Trumpet artist Jonathan Hoehn and pianist Greg Nelson share a deeply personal musical collaboration. As Jonathan navigates life after a stroke and Greg battles Alzheimer’s, music remains a source of connection, expression, and possibility.

If I Only Had a Brain brings their story to life through a documentary and a companion album—celebrating friendship, resilience, and the joy of making music together.

Lyrical trumpet, expressive piano, and fresh arrangements bring together jazz, Latin rhythms, and cinematic melodies in the companion album to the If I Only Had a Brain documentary.

Produced by Caleb Hudson, the album features Jonathan Hoehn with Chesney Street Project and special piano performances by Greg Nelson, including arrangements by Ahmed Alom. It celebrates the music at the heart of this collaboration—and the friendship behind it.

Produced and Directed by award-winning filmmaker Peter Logue and submitted to Sundance Film Festival, the film chronicles the making of the album — from interviews, studio, rehearsals and the final concert— while telling the deeply personal story behind it. It’s a celebration of music, friendship, and the human spirit in the face of challenge and change.

On June 12, 2026, Jonathan Hoehn, Greg Nelson, and Chesney Street Project came together at the Armory Performing Arts Center in Brighton, Colorado, for an evening of live music and the premiere screening of If I Only Had a Brain, the documentary.

The evening celebrated the friendship and musical collaboration at the heart of the project.
